On 16th January 2025, The Sailors Home and Mission to Seafarers held its Annual Maritime Charity Dinner at The Hyatt Regency Hotel, Tsim Sha Tsui. Attending were over 200 members of the Maritime Industry and representatives of HKSKH. The event has been held annually since 2013 and raises money for seafarers’ welfare throughout East Asia.

‘Do You Believe This?’ A Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is no stranger to many of us. Every year, the Hong Kong Catholic Diocesan Ecumenical Commission and the Hong Kong Christian Council would come together for a week of ecumenical prayer. This year’s theme was ‘Do you believe this?’ (John 11:26), and the week spanned 18-25 January.

New Year’s Thasnksgiving and Dedication Service

This year’s Diocesan New Year Service was held on 5 January, at St John’s Cathedral. Bishop Matthias invited the congregation to renew their relationship with God and with their neighbours. Reciting the 2025 dedication prayer, the bishop prayed for God’s strength in ushering in the joy of being a disciple of our Lord, and renewing our church with newfound zeal.

Memorandum of Understanding between the MHTC and USJ

A memorandum of understanding was signed between Ming Hua Theological College and The University of Saint Joseph, Macau (USJ) on 3 October 2024, at St John’s Cathedral. The two parties entered into an academic partnership where both institutions will contribute to the formation of students in the area of religious studies.
