St James’ Settlement works with kindergartens in moulding children

Publish Date: 28-Jun-2017

A ceremony cum topical lecture took place in the morning of 13 May in St James’ Settlement’s Ming Hua Hall to kick off the second phase of a project to promote character education in kindergartens. The project is initiated by St James’ Settlement and receives collaboration from the Department of Cultural and Religious Studies of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Religious Education Resource Centre.

The second phase of this project is titled “Cultivating a Toddler’s Character” to express the idea that toddlers are like saplings and need to be nurtured with care. To express the symbolic meaning of the theme, officiating guests potted plants at the ceremony. The gesture represented their hope to see children developing positive character traits and values in the kindergartens that participate in the project.
