Welfare secretary praises Welfare Council for building caring society

HKSKH Welfare Council held its annual meeting on 8 December 2017 at St James’ Church. Dr Law Chi-kwong, the secretary for Labour and Welfare, was the officiating guest of honour. He commended the welfare council for being an important partner of the government’s in building a caring society. During his speech, Dr Law said that the silver tsunami would bring on a surge in demand for elderly care services in the next several decades. He revealed that the Welfare Council was planning an innovative project that would provide the elderly with affordable accommodation and accessible facilities. The government is proactively considering appropriate supporting policies. If everything works out, the project will give the elderly another option for aging in place.
