The Feast of St Augustine of Hippo

Sentence   1) O send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling. (Psalm 43:3)
[OR]
2) Keep on doing the things that you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4:9)
[OR]
3) And that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love. I pray that you may have the power to comprehend, with all the saints, what is the breadth and length and height and depth. (Ephesians 3:17-18)

Collect   1) Merciful Lord, who turned Augustine from his sins to be a faithful bishop and teacher: Grant that we may follow him in penitence and discipline till our restless hearts find their rest in you; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
[OR]
2) O God, according to your will, some receive words of wisdom, others receive the language of knowledge and yet others receive constancy of faith, each receive their gifts through the same Holy Spirit: we praise you for the manifestation of your grace through your servant Augustine, grant O Lord, that your Church may never lack such gifts of grace; we ask this through your Son our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.
[OR]
3) Almighty God, you have bestowed special grace upon your servant Augustine, that his understanding led him to impart the truth which is in Jesus Christ: give grace O Lord, that we may appreciate his instruction, recognise that you are the one true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent to us; we ask this through your Son our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.
